A Couples Weekend in Essaouira: Duo Surf, Kite and Cooking Packs

A weekend for two in Essaouira is a short stay with a door that closes. Duo is built for that: a private room, one price that is the total for both of you, and two or three activities you do together. This page is how to pick Surf, Kite / Wingfoil or Cooking, and what those days look like from the medina. The general pack form, the hostel-or-riad question, and the hour-by-hour town plan have their own guides. Here you choose a Duo and book it.
1. What a Duo weekend actually is
Duo is a private room, and the price on the pack page is the total for the two people in it. Two nights come with two activities, three nights with three, one a day. Taxes are included. Free breakfast is included on every pack, together with Wi-Fi, the rooftop and the shared kitchen.
The activity is shared. One booking is one pack, so the two of you surf, kite or wing, or cook. If you want two different activities, write to reception before you pay.
Chill Art Hostel is inside the medina, at 21 Rue Abderrahamane Eddakhil, two minutes on foot from the ramparts and the fishing port and five to fifteen minutes from the beach. Cars do not reach the door. The walk is the same whichever Duo you take.
The pack gives you a private room. It does not name which one. The house has two private doubles, the Desert Room and the Ocean Room, and a separate apartment that people take for long stays. If a particular room matters for your dates, ask reception before you pay. A room with no lesson attached is a different booking, on the direct booking page, where the live nightly rates sit.
2. Which pack suits which couple
The three Duos are the same length and the same kind of room. The activity is the part that should match the weekend you actually want.
| The two of you | Book | Why this one |
|---|---|---|
| Mornings in the water, and at least one of you is new to it | Surf Duo | A sandy bay with no reef, shallow for a long way. The lesson includes a board and a wetsuit. Bring a swimsuit and a towel. |
| The weekend is the wind, from April to September | Kite / Wingfoil Duo | One pack, two sports, on the afternoon wind. Tell the team which lesson you want. The gear is included. |
| One of you will stay out of the water, or the point is lunch together | Cooking Duo | A morning of three to four hours: the souk, then the pot, then lunch. The dates do not depend on the wind. |
Surf sits in the morning. From April to September the trade winds usually fill in through the late morning, so the clean water is early. From October to March the swell is better organised and the wind is lighter. What a first shared morning contains is the first surf-lesson week. Anyone who already wants a heavier lineup will find this bay quiet. It suits a first lesson together, and it stays that gentle afterwards.
Kite / Wingfoil uses the afternoon wind. The season worth booking a first try around runs from April to September. The wing is the sail you hold, with no lines. The kite and the wing are different lessons under the same pack, so say which one you want. The bay and the wind calendar are in the kitesurfing guide and the wingfoil guide.
Cooking is the pack when the medina is the point, when one of you stays on the sand, or when you would rather keep the weekend off the wind. What you cook, and why the market half matters, is in the cooking-class guide. On the pack it is one class a day, with the room.
Solo, and the full length-and-room comparison, is the 2 or 3 night pack guide. This page stays with two people and one Duo.
3. Two nights or three
You arrive together and you leave together, so a missed session is missed for both of you. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out is at 11:30. Reception is open all night and there is no curfew. The road from Marrakech takes about two and a half to three hours, and the bus often arrives after dark. Essaouira-Mogador airport is about twenty minutes from the medina. Send reception the arrival time with the booking.
Surf and cooking sit in the morning. Kite and wingfoil sit in the afternoon wind, which is the part of an arrival day that can still hold a session. An evening arrival is the journey. A cooking class takes three to four hours, so it belongs on a morning you are not leaving at 11:30.
Choose two nights when you walk in before the first session and two shared sessions are the weekend. Choose three nights for a first try, or when the bus lands after dark: the first evening can be the road, and the activities still fall on full days. Nights beyond the pack are a normal stay on the direct booking page. The activities stay inside the Duo.
4. What the weekend looks like from the medina
The hour-by-hour town plan is the three-day itinerary. A Duo weekend is a smaller shape, and it starts from the hostel.
- The arrival afternoon. Bags down at 14:00. Kite or wingfoil can use that afternoon when the wind is in. Surf and cooking start the next morning.
- Breakfast. Free breakfast is included on every pack. It is the meal the stay already has, so the rest of the day can be the activity and the town.
- The walk. Ramparts, fishing port, souks and beach are on foot from the door. Anything inside the walls is a walk, not a taxi.
- 18:00. Tea and pastries on the rooftop, on the house, with a 360° view over the medina and the Atlantic. The private room is where the evening ends. The rooftop and the living room stay shared. Who that mix suits is the question the hostel or riad guide answers.
- The hours with no lesson. Two nights will not cover the ramparts, the port and a trip outside the walls. Use the itinerary for the gaps around the one activity the pack already places in the day.
Hammam, horse riding on the beach, henna and airport pickup can be arranged on request. They sit outside the Duo. Ask reception. The house has two resident cats, and guest pets are not accepted.
5. What a Duo costs
Each figure is the total for two: the private room and the activities. The euro amount is what the card charges. The dirham amount is the published price for a bank transfer, and it stays put when the exchange rate moves. Taxes are included.
| Duo pack | 2 nights | 3 nights |
|---|---|---|
| Surf | €170 1 800 DH | €255 2 700 DH |
| Kite / Wingfoil | €265 2 800 DH | €395 4 200 DH |
| Cooking | €170 1 800 DH | €254.99 2 700 DH |
Along with the room and the activity, every pack includes free breakfast, Wi-Fi, the rooftop and the shared kitchen. At 18:00 there is tea and pastries, on the house.
6. Book the Duo you picked
The form on the pack page asks for the pack, Duo, two or three nights, the arrival date, a name and a phone number. Card payment opens on that option. Paying in dirhams is a bank transfer via WhatsApp: the same step reaches the manager at +212 600 150 138 for the bank details. A question before you pay goes to reception on +212 605 815 025. The team speaks French, English and Arabic.
Bookings are non-refundable, and the page says so before you pay. What you are arranging is the room and the sessions on those dates, with the people who will be at the door.

See the packs Ask reception on WhatsAppFrequently asked questions
Is a Duo pack the right booking for a couple?
Yes, when the two of you want one private room and the same activity. The Duo price is the total for two people, not a per-person rate. Two nights include two activities and three nights include three, one a day. The pack is a private room; it does not reserve the Desert Room or the Ocean Room by name. Ask reception before you pay if a particular room matters. A room with no lesson is on the direct booking page. Free breakfast is included on every pack.
Which Duo pack should a couple book: Surf, Kite or Cooking?
Surf Duo is the sandy morning bay, with a board and a wetsuit included, for two people who want mornings in the water. Kite / Wingfoil Duo is one pack for both sports on the afternoon wind from April to September: tell the team which lesson you want, and the gear is included. Cooking Duo is a morning class of three to four hours, souk then lunch, when one of you will not get in the water or you do not want the weekend to depend on the wind. One booking is one pack. If you want two different activities, write to reception before you pay.
Should a couples weekend be two nights or three?
Two nights means two activities and three nights means three. Choose two nights if you arrive before the first session and two shared sessions are the weekend. Choose three nights for a first try, or if the bus from Marrakech arrives after dark, because an evening arrival is the journey. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out is at 11:30. Surf and cooking sit in the morning, kite and wingfoil in the afternoon wind, and a cooking class does not fit on the morning you leave. Extra nights are on the direct booking page.
How much do the Duo Surf, Kite and Cooking packs cost?
The price is the total for two, for a private room. Surf Duo is €170 (1 800 DH) for two nights and €255 (2 700 DH) for three. Kite / Wingfoil Duo is €265 (2 800 DH) and €395 (4 200 DH). Cooking Duo is €170 (1 800 DH) and €254.99 (2 700 DH). The euro figure is the card charge. The dirham figure is the bank-transfer price. Taxes are included. Free breakfast is included on every pack.
How do we book a Duo, and is breakfast included?
Book on the pack page: Surf, Kite / Wingfoil or Cooking, then Duo, two or three nights, and pay by card in euros. Paying in dirhams is a bank transfer via WhatsApp with the manager at +212 600 150 138. Questions before you pay go to reception on +212 605 815 025. Bookings are non-refundable. Free breakfast is included on every pack. Extra nights, or a room with no lesson, are on the direct booking page.
Nights around the weekend?
Live availability for a room without a lesson, or extra nights around the Duo, is on our booking page. The packs, with the activity and free breakfast included, are on the pack page.
